Position: Junior Financial / Fund Controller

Location: Amsterdam

Reporting to: Finance Manager

The Role & Deliverables

We are looking for a sharp, detail-oriented Junior Financial / Fund Controller to join our Finance & Operations team. You will be the engine behind the execution side of our finance function — owning the operational backbone that keeps our company books and our 12+ investment funds running smoothly. With ~€400M in assets under management across the platform and a growing team of 35+, accuracy and reliability in our financial operations are non-negotiable.

You will work closely with the Finance Manager (your reviewer and escalation point), our external fund administrator (AssetCare), and colleagues across Investor Operations, Compliance, and the broader business. This role is a fantastic opportunity to build deep expertise in fund finance and controlling within a fast-growing, mission-driven fintech.

What you are going to do

Monthly close & financial controlling

  • Execute the monthly close in Exact Online: bookings, accruals, reconciliations, and first-line checks & balances.

  • Own invoice processing end-to-end — booking, coding, approval flows, and chasing.

  • Process payroll bookings and accruals in coordination with our payroll provider (Vitacon / Ypsilon).

  • Perform first-line financial controls and flag exceptions to the Finance Manager for review.

Fund operations & reporting

  • Prepare and consolidate fund administration data, including downloading and processing quarterly reports from our underlying funds.

  • Support capital call execution by validating inputs, payment confirmations, and transaction monitoring.

  • Process investor refunds and handle related transaction monitoring in coordination with Investor Operations.

  • Coordinate with fund administration on fund accounting topics, audit prep, and ad-hoc requests.

Banking & finance operations

  • Open and maintain bank accounts for new fund entities; manage banking documentation.

  • Manage the finance inbox according to our SOPs.

  • Continuously identify opportunities to automate manual steps and improve our finance processes.

Who You Are

  • Highly organized and meticulous — you spot the misplaced decimal before anyone else does.

  • Reliable and structured: you meet deadlines and take ownership without needing reminders.

  • Comfortable with numbers and financial data; you enjoy reconciling and getting to the bottom of variances.

  • Curious about systems and tooling — eager to learn Exact Online, BigQuery, Notion, and to push for automation where it makes sense.

  • A clear communicator in both English and Dutch, comfortable working with internal teams as well as external partners (fund administrator, banks, accountants).

  • A team player who thrives in a fast-paced scale-up environment.

  • Passionate about climate and our mission to unlock private capital for the energy transition.

Your Qualifications

  • 0–3 years of relevant experience in financial controlling, fund administration, audit, or a similar role; ideally within VC/PE, asset management, fund administration, or a fintech.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, or a related field.

  • Strong proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets; familiarity with Exact Online (or similar accounting software) is a plus.

  • Affinity with data tools and process automation is a plus.

  • Located in the Netherlands or willing to relocate, with permission to work in the Netherlands.

Note: We invite you to apply even if you don't meet all the requirements.

What We Offer

  • Work at a well-funded fintech scale-up that is genuinely driven to put a dent in climate change.

  • Office in the bustling center of Amsterdam, less than a 10-minute walk from Centraal Station. Public transport costs reimbursed.

  • Hybrid working — minimum of 3 days per week in the office.

  • Full-time position.

  • 25 holiday days.

  • Pension contribution

  • Personal learning budget

  • Friday afternoon drinks, bi-annual company offsites, and a healthy lunch in the office every day.
